Abstract

This research aims to describe the existence of Tor-Tor dance in Jorong Silaping Nagari Batahan District of Batahan Domain of West Pasaman Regency. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods of analysis. The main instruments in the study were the researchers themselves and were assisted with supporting instruments such as stationery, cameras, tapes and flash drives. This type of data uses primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques are carried out in the way of literature studies, observations and interviews. The steps of analyzing data are collecting data, describing data and inferring data. The results showed that the existence of Tor-Tor dance is still recognized and cultivated by the mandailing community of Jorong Silaping Kenagarian Batahan District of Batahan Domain of West Pasaman Regency. The Batahan District Community of West Pasaman Regency accepts and appreciates the presence of Tor-Tor dance that comes from the Mandailing community. Traditional art of Tor-Tor Jorong Dance Silaping Kenagarian Batahan District Of Batahan District of West Pasaman Regency has not changed from year to year. Tor-Tor dance is carried out at the wedding ceremony of the king's son (descendants of the king) but can also be carried out by the people of the king's descendants from other jorong who have moved residence to jorong Silaping. Medium for ordinary people can also do Tor-Tor dance with the condition of paying for one goat with the term braiding custom and maminjam alaman nabolak which means braiding the yard.
